Fried green tomatoes

°4 large green tomatoes

°2 eggs

°Half a cup of milk

°1 cup all-purpose flour

°Half a cup of cornmeal

°2 tsp coarse kosher salt

°Half tsp ground black pepper

°1 liter vegetable oil for frying


Sliced tomatoes 1/2 inch thicken .

Whisk eggs and milk together in a medium bowl. Put the flour in a plate. Mix the cornmeal, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in another bowl. Dip the tomatoes in the flour to coat them. Then dip the tomatoes in the milk and egg mixture. Rolling in the breadcrumbs to coat them.

In a large skillet, pour vegetable oil (enough to have 1/2 inch of oil in the skillet) and heat it over medium heat. Place the tomatoes into the pan in batches of 4 or 5, depending on the size of the pan. Do not crowd the tomatoes, they should not touch each other. While tomatoes turn brown, turning them over and fry on other side. Drain them on paper towels.
